What exactly does the Bible say about our created reality? And what is the place and role of man in this? When justice is spoken, is it also about animals, plants and trees? What is the relationship between care for creation and care for the poor?
A systematic consideration of these and other questions is relatively new in theology and Christian ethics. Especially in the Netherlands, ecological theology is still in its infancy. That is a loss, because churches and Christians also need good equipment in this area.
We are convinced that theology and Christian ethics can contribute to a new approach to the ecological question. That is why the Martine Vonk Foundation is committed to a endowed chair in Ecological Theology. From this chair it is possible to work on these questions programmatically and systematically. New reflection can be brought about through education and research.
"In society and also in the Christian community, a thorough reflection on choices we make is necessary. We have to investigate which drives we choose from."
